Review of Popular Endodontic Biomaterials - Irrigants, Medicaments, Sealers, MTA and Bioceramics

Dr William Ha BDSc PhD (Endo Biomaterials). Dentist (Qld Health), Researcher & Lecturer (University of Queensland).

Friday 16th November 2018 Half Day Meeting

Dr. Ha works in government practice limited to endodontics in Brisbane, and he is also a lecturer and research supervisor at the University of Queensland. He has published several peer-reviewed articles in international journals on endodontic biomaterials. He is the Queensland state president for the Australian Society of Endodontology and the Queensland state president for the Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry.

A wide array of biomaterial are used in endodontics, each with differing compositions, roles and properties. There is no perfect irrigant, medicament or obturation material so clinicians must determine which biomaterial, or combination of biomaterials will produce the best outcome for their patients. The presentation will focus on the popular materials in endodontics and assess the supporting evidence and outline ideal protocols for their use. The lecture aim to be clinically relevant with evidence-based summaries on the strengths and pitfalls of each product and technique.
